Grateful for Heat!

Sunday when we arrived home from our block meetings we noticed that the house was a little cool. As the afternoon continued on it became obvious that there was no heat and the temperature in the house was dropping. The air coming from the vents was cold air. The temperature that morning while getting ready for church was fine so something definitely had happened between morning and afternoon.

We shut off the furnace completely and then tried restarting it. The furnace we have is a new fangled furnace that you do not light the pilot light, it is supposed to light itself every time the heat kicks on. When we restarted it the pilot light would act like it was lighting and then stop. The fan would continue on and the cold air would start coming through the vents again. A neighbor, who is much more handy than the two of us, came over and looked at it but could not help. So we shut it down, called the repair man and found out it would be more than double to have them come out on a Sunday rather that waiting for Monday. We opted to wait for Monday.

Later that evening we tried restarting the furnace with the same bad results. We borrowed a nicer space heater than we have to help with the evening warmth. The night never was to cold. The space heater we borrowed worked really well.

So this morning the repair man came, said we had a clogged sensor, unclogged it and 20 minutes later and our checking account a little poorer we now have heat again. How grateful for all the things that went into us having heat again. I can't imaging being without it on really cold nights.
