Washington D.C.

It is always fun to go on a trip and this one was no different.  I blog about our trips so that I can remember them.  At my age things go quickly in the memory department.  This travel log will be a bit different from the past, because as you can see from previous posts I am not good at blogging.  So here goes the adventures of our Washington D.C. trip.

May 1, 2014
*Headed to the Airport 7:00 am., Debi (my friend) took us
*Left for Atlanta at 8:30 am arriving at 1:55 pm (Atlanta Time)
Atlanta airport is crazy.  Wade and I have been there before and knew what to expect.  It is always fun trying to figure out which subway to take to get to luggage pick up.  We always seem to make it.
We had taken a different flight than Kim, but had landed within 10 minutes of each other.
*Found Kim and then headed to rental car area
*Rented a Suburban and headed to pick up LeeAnn at the Emerson Hotel and Convention Center

*Found LeeAnn and headed to our hotel the Holiday Inn Express

By the time we picked up LeeAnn and found our hotel we were all starved having not eaten since morning.  If you know Wade and I, you know that we are not big on finding out of the way dinning establishments.  We just want to eat.  We found a small diner close to the hotel called Evans Fine Foods.  It was very tasty for those of us who ate.  Because it had been so long since we last ate Wade was not feeling well and ate very little of his dinner.

     *Headed to Stone Mountain

Jefferson Davis, Robert E.Lee, and Stonewall Jackson carved into the mountain.

*Hiked trail to the top of the mountain. Kim, Wade and Travis made it to the very top.  One part of the trail actually had a railing to hold onto because it was so steep.  It was not so bad going up that part but coming down was a different story.

Pole on the trail that had gum stuck all over it

There had been a terrible storm the day before we arrived in Atlanta.  This was some of the damage it had caused.
