Dear Mom and Dad,
Well, I am not moving! It looks
like I'll spend my last movecall here in Daya. My companion, Elder
Chen, has moved to Jiayi, where he will stay Zone Leader. My new
companion is...Elder Chen! Haha! This is a different Elder Chen, he
just finished 3 movecalls in the office, and now will serve with me.
We're friends, we are on the same movecall, and we served in Yuanlin at
the same time, but in different wards. We were both each other's
district leaders at one point. He's really funny, so I'm looking
forward to finishing my mission with him as my last companion.
Well, let me answer some of those
questions. I would like to sleep upstairs. The basement will be too
cold for me! Who would I like at the airport? Ahh...you both can
come. I think that's fine. I'll see everyone else later. Honestly,
I've been more concerned about what I'll eat when I get home. Lets get
some Mexican food, hao bu hao? Dad did mention I will be speaking, I'll
write that down. Good thing I'll have plenty of time to write down my
talk. Yeah, we can have an open house if you'd like. I have something I
should tell you about. I have that Chinese lute, I talked to the
office, and they think the cheapest way to get it home is take it with
me on the airplane. Yeah, it still will cost money. They're thinking
it may cost 50-100 dollars, but he suggested that I have 150 just to be
safe. When I go home, my first bag will be free, but my second will
cost 75 dollars. So, my card will need a total of about 225. Yeah. Is
that alright? I guess I don't have many other choices.
Ooh, this election is so
interesting. I don't know, I'd like some of your opinion Dad. I've
been gone for two years. What are some of the good and bad things about
the Obama administration? What kind of platform is Mitt Romney running
on? I'd like to see more of the details if I could. Wow, the
elections are only a month and a half away. I want your prediction on
the election, who do you think will come up on top? Although I'll vote
for Pres. Obama, I presumed that Romney would have a good chance of
winning the election. But I don't know anymore. What do you think?
I won't lie, I'm excited to be
going home. I love being a missionary. I love the Taiwanese people, I
love the church, I love inviting others to come unto Christ. Two years
is going by really, really fast. My biggest goal this movecall is
"enduring to the end." I don't want to get trunky my last movecall. I
want to keep talking with everyone, building the ward, and helping
investigators progress towards baptism. I can still lead the zone and
help the missionaries in my stewardship. But I'll still be happy to go
home. I'm most excited to see my family and close friends again. I'm
also excited to be able to regularly attend the temple. I'm looking
forward to that.
I love you both. Let Nick and Haley know I'll be sending them an email or letter.
-Elder Travis Leatham
