Dear Mom and Dad,
Yeah, it was a pretty good week. We seemed to be really busy
towards the end of the week, that is always a nice feeling. Its super
hot this week, it seems to feel a lot hotter than last year. Maybe I'm
more tired this year. Haha!
Bro. Zhang is doing really well. He's just finished reading 3
Nephi, he loves reading the Book of Mormon. Its amazing how much daily
prayer and reading, and weekly church attendance has made an influence
on this man. He has some really strong and interesting opinions that
have changed because of his new habits. The cool thing is, he wants to
begin sharing the gospel with his daughter who lives in Tainan.
To be honest, I'm not sure what
the less active gave me is. It tastes like...Chinese medicine...which
kind of tastes like wood shavings. Yeah. He pulled out some dried
beetles and worms that he uses for different stuff, I was not willing to
try it. Sis. Bishop sent me a list of things to try. You could
probably look online for some suggestions. I still have a hard time
getting a full 8 hours of sleep, I probably won't sleep comfortably
until November. I've actually been having a lot of chest pain and
headaches lately. I was kind of worried. I asked Sis. Bishop about it,
she says a lot of missionaries have chest pains because of stress
related issues. Missionary work, stressful? :)
Fun week, our Elder's quorum President fed us on friday night. He
went and bought Mexican food from Gaoxiong and brought it to us, it was
really awesome. Our ward has been finding ways to serve us a lot the
past few weeks, they must think we have a lot of problems. Haha! I
have a great area, a great companion, and great investigators. Its just
HOT!
We went hiking today up in Qishan, it was super pretty. And hot.
I'll send you some pictures. Did you get the letters I sent? Will you
be having a visitor from Taiwan anytime soon?
Hey, I heard that a foreigner that majors in Chinese can get
full-ride scholarships to study in some of the best schools in Taiwan.
Cool huh? It would be cool to come back to do a semester or two, but
we'll see.
WELL, I don't have too much to say this week. I love to hear
anything from you! The politic updates are nice. If there's anything I
don't think is interesting, I'll just breeze through it. :)
I love you both! Have a nice week!
-Elder Travis Leatham
