Dear Mom and Dad,
Hello! Guess what? Last time I
interviewed with President Bishop, I told him that I wanted to serve in
Gaoxiong, and asked him to pray about it. He laughed about it, and said
he would. Well, I moved today. I'm serving in Gangshan, a suburb of
Gaoxiong. Its more rural than my last area, but is Gaoxiong none the
less! I'm pretty excited, everyone says Gaoxiong is golden. I will see
for myself. Moving is always sad, because I'll miss all the people in
the ward I served in. Its always nice when all the recent converts and
less actives you helped express their gratitude for helping them come
into the fold of God. The individuals makes this work worth it.
Well, I'm no longer a trainer, I am serving as a district leader
again. I was nervous of going Zone Leader, haha! I still have 4
movecalls, so its still looking likely. For now, I'll enjoy being a
district leader. I'm serving with Elder Dailey, who is from Bluffdale,
Utah. I actually knew him in the MTC, he was one below me. He had to
go home early for some reason, but is back! He served one movecall in
Arcadia, CA, and 2 here in Gaoxiong, so he is now on his 3rd in Taiwan.
He's really nice, and its cool being with someone I met a year ago.
Hey, here is something of interest. One of the members from
Yuanlin is going to America to visit the missionaries that helped her
recieve baptism. She'll be in the Salt Lake area for a month or two, so
I gave her your information and told her to find time to visit you.
Her name is Vanessa Chang, or Zhang1 Ya3 Ting2. She's really cool,
she's an English major, so she can definitely communicate. If she calls
you or stops by, don't be weirded out or anything. I thought it would
be interesting. Haha!
Could you ask Bishop Davidson a question for me? If I was going to
run for city council, how long do I have to have lived in the city?
Would the fact that I am currently living in Taiwan restrict me from
running for city council next year? I'm just curious. :)
Well, that's all I got for now. I love you!
-Elder Travis Leatham
