April 23, 2012 Email

Dear Mom and Dad,
Quick question: did you ask Ellice Tan on facebook if I sent a letter to the right address?
Thank you.
Hello!  We had a baptism on saturday, it was great.  He was confirmed on sunday, and he's doing great.  I'm really impressed by how solid Zhang Hong Wei is, we actually have two recent converts who are finding ways to serve in the church, and help their family members accept the gospel.  Its really amazing, its the kind of baptisms that you read about in Preach My Gospel.  A great part is the involvement in the ward.  The ward leaders are excited, and really are doing their best to help these new members.
Whoo, that's really exciting about the new missions!  Hopefully it will do a great deal in strengthening our area.  Man, we'll be seeing a lot more of the missionaries.  I've wondered about how I can help missionary work grow when I get home.  I'm not sure how much time I'll have, but at least I can magnify my calling, help less actives in our ward, and help my friends.  I'm sure I'll find plenty of opportunities to serve when I return home.
Mom, are you feeling trunky?  Haha!  While its not official, I'm likely going home on November 6th, as opposed to November 18th.  Some of the missionaries that came to Taiwan with me want me to wait until November 18th, so we can go home together.  In fact, the only reason I picked November 6th is because of Mom. :)  ANYWAYS, I don't have a special feeling about what day I need to return home.  I've prayed about it and everything.  We'll be having interviews in a few weeks, so I'll ask President Bishop what he thinks I should do.  But for now, its looking like November 6th.
Something of interest, my recent convert, Huang Yi Kai, is a travel agent.  So when I bring you to Taiwan to visit, he can help us out. :)
Whoo, the convention sounded super intense.  The election should only get more interesting from here.  Yeah, when I run for office, I'm definitely going to strive for integrity.  That's what I've learned from the Book of Mormon.  Hmm, the only candidate that I'm familiar with is Christopher Stout.  When Sam Granato ran for Senate, Christopher Stout was his contender.  He had never ran for office, he's a short and stout man (haha) who seems pretty humble.  He made a good impression for someone who is a no name, because he showed up to every caucus meeting on time and prepared with a message, something Sam Granato did not do.  Peter Cooke, I'm not exactly sure who he is, but I've heard the name.
By the way, WVC's sister city is Nantou, the county president of Nantou mentioned the student exchanges to me when I went to Nantou for grave sweeping.  Small world.  Mike Winder is involved.
Happy Birthday Mom!  My birthday was fun, we had a number of investigators and members who wanted to feed me or give me gifts.  I was really grateful, I didn't really expect much of anything to happen.  For some reason, a bunch of people know that I like giraffes, so I recieved a number of giraffe-related items.  Hehe.
Love you!
