Our hotel had a breakfast to satisfy any taste buds. Travis can get a little bit of the native food while the rest of us can get what we like. They even had Frosted Flakes for Wade. We found out that a half a gallon of milk is about $8, so we were delighted to see they had milk for breakfast.
Casper (Yikai) met us this morning to be our tour guide. He drives a little Nippy which Travis made fun off the whole day and was not the most comfortable for 3 larger adults in the middle seat.
We were headed to Sun Moon Lake and the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village. Casper had been there before but he informed us that he had never driven before. He had always gone with his family and his father had driven. Part of the fun was the adventure in getting there. Too the wrong exit, missed the Moon Lake exit, got in a small fender bender then arrived at the lake. Beautiful!
Before we headed out Casper took us to see the Church in Yuanlin.

We found a little restaurant for lunch. Travis and Casper ordered. Paul and I tasted almost everything they ordered. Paul was much better at at least trying most of it. Things with eyes looking at me I can not eat.
These little guys were looking at us, yuck. |

Because it was a week day the park closed early than we thought. We were not able to spend as much time as we would have liked.
At the other end of the village there is a small amusement park, very small. It had a roller coaster and one other ride.

After a great day at Sun Moon Lake we headed back to Yuanlin. It had been a very fun day with a few frustrations. Casper had been a great tour guide. Eating was always an adventure and after the lunch we had Wade really wanted something familiar. I blame Wade, but really others of us wanted that also. We ended up at McDonalds. It did taste good but the thing that hit the spot the most was the Sprite. We headed back to the hotel to do laundry which ended up taking several hours. Their washing machines and dryers, I guess, can not hold as much as ours at home. It was very nice to have clean clothes. When you pack light those clean clothes are essential.
