July 25th Email

Dear Mom and Dad;
Well, no one has a mission for exactly 2 years. its inconvenient, because we operate on six week move calls. So usually you go home at the end of a move call. Measuring from my 2 year mark, I can come home 2 weeks early or stay an extra 4 weeks. They like us to stay the extra 4 unless we request otherwise. I don't see any reason I shouldn't stay.
With the ROTC business, I was thinking going into Chinese teaching would be more stable and have more opportunities. So the Air Force would be a good opportunity in getting language experience, and if teaching jobs are not available, I could still have really good job skills and career opportunities. And if I ever wanted to do politics or something, it would look really great to say I am an Air Force officer. Since this would be officer training, I basically can't die, because they've put so much money into my training. Chair Force! Like I said, I'm just thinking about it, I still need to pray about it and look at my other options. Maybe you could email me some of the stuff that you read.
Brother Ye is actually out of town, so he was not able to ask the girl on a date. BUT Sister Tan saw her the other day, and apparently she totally would be cool with dating him. So yeah. He's actually in the army this week. Every man in Taiwan is required to do a year and a half of military service, and then they do one week in the army every year for 30 years. Apparently Brother Ye is an officer, which is pretty cool. I think Brother Li's plants have all dies. I have no idea what kind of plants they are.
Umm, nothing amazingly interesting this week. Gong to the beach today. Kinda cool. I've been studying about virtue and humility the past few weeks, they are the two Christlike attributes I think I need the most work on. I've started reading the Book of Mormon again, this time I am looking for Promises from the Lord, warnings from the Lord, and covenants we make. I'm realizing the Book of Mormon really is another testament of Jesus Christ, or in other words, a covenant made with Jesus Christ.
I love you! Say hi to everyone. You are in my prayers always.
Love,
Elder Travis Leatham
