April

I have now been reprimaded by two of my nieces for the infrequent update of this blog. What can I say. It is not that my life is so busy that I can't find a moment to write. It is that my life, and that of the Leatham family, is so boring that I feel there is nothing much to write about.
This blog will attempt to give a glimpse of the things that went on at the Leatham home in April.

We had our Spring Training for the incoming PTA Boards for the Granite School District. The state PTA has asked that we not do a full training before the State Convention in May. So, my question to our board, why are we doing a Spring Training? I would think that the training should be done after State for all those who did not make it to State, or those who feel they need more training. Just my thoughts. I looked at the past rolls for the treasurer training to get a feel for how many I would have. The average in the past few years was 10-15. Not a big deal. There were 33 in my training class. We did not even fit in the room that I was given. I made the decision to train more on getting organized and when everything was due. It went well, but I did not have enough handouts. Sent someone to make more.
The most frustrating part was when I asked how many were going to go to State. Less than half rasied there hands. Should have excused those who were going to State and done a full blown training for those who were new and not going. I know PTA is a volunteer organization but I feel if you are going to volunteer, training should be a must so you can at least do the job well. I still think post convention training would be better.

Pressure, Pressure, Pressure! A nephew, we all know which one, was in charge of a Kiwana's 5K race. He is a very good salesperson because he got us to run/walk the race. Wade, Travis and myself decided we would support Justin and participate. Wade was determined to run it and Travis and I would walk it. We even bought Travis good running shoes to participate. If you know Travis you know that his idea of shoes is comfy and casual. He had no decent shoes to walk for 3 miles. He does now. The camera was left at home so not pictures. But, this one is so cute it needs to be posted for the hundreth time on a family blog.
The 10th was also my favorite sisters birthday. Her daughters and daughter-in-law were going to take her to get a pedicure and invited me to tag along. Can't pass up a pedicure. Thanks ladies for inviting me.

My niece, Haley, is having a baby. A baby girl. We are so excited for her. Her mother, sister and friend threw her a baby shower. It was alot of fun, but crazy. I saw a baby cake at a shower I went to once and thought how much fun it would be to make one. My first one was for my niece Melanie. I really wanted to make one for Haley also. So I did. When I saw the pink piglet at the store I fell in love with him. He was so cute and soft. The funnest part was wrapping it in a receiveing blanket that Grandma Petersen had started.

I still have three receiving blankets left, so, the next three new baby's get one that Grandma had bought. (Gordon, Matt, Jodi, Travis, Kyle, Willie, Jacey, Max?)

Birthday! Travis turned 19 years old. He is finding out that the older you get the more boring birthday's become. He is a great kid and we are lucky to have him in our family. All that Travis wanted was money. That is what he got, cold hard cash. He also got to pick where we went to dinner that night. At dinner he ran into his sixth grade teacher. Mrs. Sorenson remembered him and said, "your not lost". Then we knew she really knew who he was. I think he spent most of his sixth grade year lost in the new school.
I celebrated my birthday the following week by going out to lunch with friends on monday, with family on Tuesday and family again on Friday. What a fun week.
Travis finished up his first year at the U in April with just one final left thie first week in May. He is excited to be done and is looking forward to a relaxing summer. That's what he thinks.
Kyle is home this weekend and is hoping to graduate by May 22. If not then, for sure by June 21. He is looking forward to graduating and then hopefully finding a job somewhere close to home.
