Catch Up

It is December 31, 2014.  Wade and I usually go to dinner and sometimes a movie with friends, but not this year.  We are at home this year with Wade in bed and I am very bored.  Hence the update on the blog.  Wade has had the flu for the last couple of days.  Not the stomach flu but the other flu that is going around strong this year.  He says he is starting to feel better, so I am hoping he is and that I do not get it.

I am going to try and update a few things that have been going on in the Leatham household.

The week of Christmas was a very busy, crazy time for us.  We usually try and spend the day after Christmas with Braidyn. That did not happen with getting wedding things in order.  Every Saturday night we pick him up and keep him until Sunday afternoon so that it was we did.  Braidyn was able to open his presents from us that night.  I did a video of him opening his presents but I can not get it to load.   We always have such a good time with him.  His Howden cousins gave him a Thomas the Train tent and train whistle.  We also put that up Saturday and he had a riot playing with it.  It became a moving train all over the house.

Braidyn at our Ward Christmas Party.  He thought Santa was a blast.

Saturday, December 27, 2014, Travis married Carla Liliana Bonilla Huaroc.  I am sure I did not get that right.  It will be exciting to get the pictures from Jenn and then I will post more.  I am stealing the pictures I have from my niece's blog, Haley.  They were married in the Empire Room at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building and then a luncheon was held in their honor in the Sharon room also at the Joseph Smith Building.

Bishop Dennis Stone, a friend and neighbor, married them

It turned out very nice with a great support from family and friends.  Their colors were burgundy, grey and white.   Travis and Carla stopped by on Sunday and seemed very happy.  After talking with Carla, she had told us that she was so nervous about the wedding that her father, who is a pharmacist, had given her something equivalent to a Valium to help her relax and sleep.  It did not seem to help so that morning he had given her another one.  Wade and I had felt she was a little out of it at the wedding and apparently she was.  All in all, it was a good day for all.

Christmas Eve and Christmas day were a flurry of activities at our house.  I am terrible about pictures.  Christmas Eve we had Carla and her Mother, Father, Brother, and Grandmother to dinner.  Travis was great about coming out and making most of the dinner and helping get ready.  We also had Arda and Kyle come.  The dinner was not our usual Prim Rib but consisted of Italian cuisine.  A very tasty alternative to the normal dinner.

Christmas morning Carla's family again came to breakfast adding Carla's aunt Teresa who had flown in Christmas Eve.  Arda and Kyle again came with LeeAnn and Kim also joining us.  It did consist of the normal Christmas morning breakfast of scones, ham and eggs.  As always it was delicious.

Wades family came to dinner that evening.  It was mostly Mary's family with Dick and Brookes family joining us.

I truly love having family in my home.  I have to admit that I was really glad when the day was over and I could relax a bit.

ARIZONA

Wades nephew Jon was married on November 20, 2014 in Gilbert, Arizona.  We decided to attend the wedding and make a little trip out of it.  Dick had told us to make sure we went to see the Gilbert temple which was really close to our hotel.  So, we looked up the Temple on the map and headed towards it.  It took quite a while to find it.  We kept looking for the Angel Moroni and never did see it.  When we got there we realized we were at the Mesa Temple and not the Gilbert Temple.  The Mesa Temple does not have a Moroni on the top.  It is a beautiful temple and we were glad we made the trip.  We asked at the visitors center for the address of the Gilbert Temple and headed for that one.

The Gilbert Temple does have an angel on the top.  It is a beautiful and much more modern temple than the Mesa.  Well worth the effort to find it.

We also went sight seeing and found an old ghost town.  It was fun to walk around but really it was a tourist center.

The wedding was very nice.  Brookes daughter Lily was the flower girl.  She was so adorable in her dress and flower headdress.  Ashley was also beautiful and Jon very handsome.  The minister began the ceremony and called the groom Michael.  That was pretty funny.

EYE Issues

The end of October, one morning, I woke up and my right eye was blurry to the side.  I was just finishing up with a cold and felt that it was part of that.  It did not go away and so I decided to make an eye appointment.  I went in on November 10 and before I could leave the office my Dr. had made me an appointment with a specialists for that same day. Dr. Abundo said that I had a Horeshoe Retina Tear that needed to be treated immediately.  I should not have let it go a week before seeing him.   Usually there is a white flash of light when it happens, but mine must have happened at night because I woke up with the blurry vision.  There was nothing I did that caused the tear other than getting older.  One more thing to worry about as we age.

Dr, Corey, whose office is at the IMC in Murray, is who I saw.  He verified that yes I had a retina tear and that it needed to be taken care of immediately.  He also said that it was not painful just a little uncomfortable to have it repaired.  Not repairing it can cause to blindness in the eye.  Great, I was sure I could handle it, no problem.   He was right, it was not very painful but, it was very uncomfortable which caused pain.  I was never happier than when he was finished with the repair.

This is the x-ray of my eyes.  The right eye looks like a rain cloud which drops off at the end, while the left is still round with only a little rain on the left side.  This is the beginning of a retina tear on the left eye he informed me.  Nothing can be done until it tears.  Oh goody!
