Dear Mom and Dad,
Let me answer some questions, than I can tell you about other stuff.
I haven't emailed Nick yet, I wrote him a letter instead. Tell him I love him!
The injury in my knees and ankles happened by overuse. Nothing crazy, I'm just an old missionary!
Its more convenient for the mission for us to go home at the same
time, because other missionaries will have to be moved to replace us.
So its more convenient to do it on the same day. Its also more
convenient because they can take us to Taibei at the same time, and they
can put us on the same plane. I'll be with Elder Oakman the entire
time, so I'll have a companion.
Guess what? I recieved my travel plans. I'm not sure if they gave
you the exact details, I'll be leaving Taiwan at 9:40 am. I don't know
if we'll be able to go to Taibei 101 or the temple because of that, but
that's okay. After that, I'll have a layover in Tokyo, a layover in
Detroit, and finally land in Salt Lake. I can't remember what time,
7ish? Anyways, I was pretty shocked when I saw the number of layovers
we have. Most Elders fly straight to LA. It will be fun, we leave
Taiwan to be surrounded by Japanese people. (They really are not the
same.) Then we'll be surrounded by black people, I haven't seen a black
person in over a year. And then I'll be surrounded by white people.
Haha!
Yeah, you can set up with a dermatologist.
I heard about Richie's engagement, that's super fast, but I'm not
suprised. I honestly thought he would wait for Holly, but I know that
he has the qualities to make any marriage successful. I don't know Xela
nearly as well as I should, I'll need to repent.
I've been thinking of dating a
little bit. You know, only when appropriate. I have a few girls in
mind who I'd like to ask out. I can't tell you, that would ruin the
suspense. I honestly don't want to spend a whole lot of time dating a
whole lot of different girls. I'd rather just find someone I would be
happy dating on a long-term basis. I guess the goal is finding a
girlfriend, not dating. I let it worry me a little bit. I'm also a
little worried about finding a job. I have a few ideas, but I honestly
have no idea what's going to happen. Heidi's aunt talked to me before
about secretary jobs at the U, that would be extremely convenient.
Would you mind asking uncle Dave about any job opportunities at the
church office building? Would you also mind asking the Bishop? I'm
trying not to worry about it too much.
School is looking really good. I'll be at the University Monday 8:00-1:10, Wednesday 8:00-1:10 and 4:30-7:00,
and Friday 9:40-11:45. I like it, because I have tuesdays and
thursdays to do other things! I'm planning for two history classes,
Asian Civilizations and Modern Chinese History. I'm also planning for
two political science classes, Intro to Political Theory and Intro to
Law and Politics. Do you see any patterns? On wednesday evening,
I'll be taking Teaching and Learning, an introduction to education
class. I have to take it before I can be accepted into the college of
Education. It requires 20 hours of service in a school during the
semester, that's why I left tuesdays and thursdays open. On wednesday,
that leaves me 3 hours that I'll be stranded at the U, so it gives me
plenty of time to do homework. Its a total of 15 credit hours. What do
you think?
Enough about trunky stuff, conference was awesome. I had asked
four questions that I hoped to recieve revelation for. After taking
notes, I went back and highlighted my notes, using 4 colors representing
all of my questions. My notebook is extremely colorful, with all four
colors present. I'm going to take the revelation I recieved and make
goals from them. I really liked Elder Holland's talk, he gave a similar
talk in the MTC. I find myself imagining the Lord asking, "Lovest thou
me?" I hope my words and my actions can always say, "Lord, thou
knowest that I love thee."
Sorry I talk about all of this trunky stuff, I just have a desire
of "transferring to my new area" as smoothly as possible. I really am
striving to stay focused and dilligent in my last month on island. I
love this work, and I feel the Spirit inside of me.
I love you.
