Dear Mom and Dad,
This week has definitely had its
challenges, haha! I'll tell you, but don't be worried. I've been sick
the past week with a nasty cough, I was pretty whipped on Thursday,
Elder Chen had to do some phones calls in the afternoon while a crashed for a
few hours at the chapel. I still have the cough, but I'm okay. More
seriously, I've had pain in both my ankles for a month or so. The past
week has been the worst, when I wake up, I can't walk because my legs
are too stiff, and by the end of the day, my ankles become swollen. If I
move my feet in the wrong way or put too much pressure, I experience
sharp pain. Its putting pressure on my knees as well. I'm getting it
all taken care of, I had x rays, nothing is broken. The mission doctor
called from Hong Kong, our plan is basically to help me stay comfortable
and efficient until I go home in November. The main problem is that
I'm an old missionary, and my body is starting to let me know. He said
there shouldn't be any damage that can't be repaired after I go home and
rest. Its been a good experience actually. Although I'm physically
exhausted, my spirits are high. I'm happy, I know the Lord will take
care of me, and I know I need the Spirit with me more than ever. Don't
worry about me, just pray I won't do anything stupid to brake my ankles.
Quick request, can you prepare to send my mail in ballot in the next little bit? Thanks.
I really like your pictures from Alaska! I wasn't expecting
letters, I appreciated that. I love you both, and pray for you always.
Have a great week!
-Elder Travis Leatham
