April 18 Letter

Dear Mom and Dad,

Happy Birthday Mom!
Let me answer your questions really quick. I have not asked about a phone card, I'll get around to it. :) I have not recieved a package. It usually takes 2 to 3 weeks, so I'll probably get it next week. I'll let you know.
I've been a little under the weather the past few days, but I'm pretty good ba. My companion gave me some great advice: "take 2 asprins and work it off." So we'll see how I'm feeling next week. Haha!
So, I've had a 1000 year old egg a few times, I thought it was pretty descent, until I found out how they make it. I've decided at this moment not to tell you how they make it, but it may or may not include a horse.
Did I tell you, I got hit my a motorcycle during conference? Yeah, my bike is fine, thats what I was worried about. I'm fine of course. I've been a little more careful this week. The taxi's and the dumb kids on motorcycles are the scariest drivers here.
I'm not sure if we'll have baptisms this month, but I have a lot of hope. If you don't have hope, you can't have much of anything else. I'll let you know as we figure things out.
I really like meeting with our eternal investigator, David. Its funny, he probably knows more Mormons in Taiwan than I do. He's been investigating longer than I've been active. Elder Jaramillo gave him an interesting promise: He will not leave Tainan until David is baptized. Its interesting, because one of us will be leaving in 3 weeks. No one stays with their trainer for more than 3 move calls. I wouldn't be suprised if I leave, because my companion has only been district leader for a move call. I'd really like to stay, but I'll go where I need to go.
I went to Gaoxiong twice this week. First was zone conference, which was all the districts from the south. Our zone leader, Elder Bickmore, gave his mission reflection, as he will be going home in may. It was really sad to see such a great missionary preparing to go home. I also met my grandpa; Elder Jaramillo's trainer, Elder Salgado! He was really excited to meet me. Zone conference was great, we were trained in becoming master teachers. We also were able to see all of our friends from the South and hear about their success. I think most of the missionaries who are my movecall or the one above or below are in the north, I only saw a few. We also had the two guys who run the church history dept come on saturday, that was great. I'll tell you more about it next week.

Love you, have a great week.
-Elder Travis Leatham
