Dear Mom and Dad,
I'm a little tight on time today, but there is a few important things to tell you!
First, I ran into President Bishop the other day. I was at the chapel, and he happened to be there. I said, "Hey President Bishop, is there anything I can do for you?" He said, "actually, there's a number of new missionaries coming on island, I'd like you to train one of them. Elder Baker, its your last week in Yuanlin." Just like that. So next move call, I will be a trainer. Because Elder Chen, the other senior in my district, is training again, I likely will stay District Leader. Yeah. I'm pretty dang nervous, but it will be really exciting to meet my new companion. Its a real honor to be trusted enough to train a new missionary.
Second, I had one of the most interesting P Day's ever today. We went up to this mountainous part of Nantou county with my zone to a resort with a Swiss Alps theme. In Taiwan. The best part is, the mountain was covered in sheep! I tricked one into kissing me! It was great. I'll send you some pics.
I haven't officially told President Bishop my release date, but I'm thinking November 6th. I didn't care too much, but Mom's opinion had a big effect. When I prayed about it, I felt November 6th is just about right. I'm a little sad to think I will go home. Haha! I still have time.
I do know about Jeremy Lin. His parents are from Beidou, which is in (guess what) my district. Its in the other Elder's secondary area. Small world.
Love you!
-Elder Travis Leatham
