Mission Update

Tuesday, February 8, 2011, Travis left for Taiwan. Twelve weeks in the MTC went fast for us but for Travis is was a little long. This was a post from his last email;

"So, fast sunday, we have a big 2 hour meeting that the MTC Presidency speak. Beacuse it was our last sunday, we had a departure devotional at which the MTC Presidency spoke. Another hour. Right after that we have our normal MTC fireside, another hour hearing talks from the MTC Presidency. 2 hours + 1 hour +1 hour = send me to Taiwan".

He was able to call us from LAX on his lay over. It was great to talk with him. We had a little confusion when he called. I think I hung up on him. Almost 10 minutes later he called back. Yes, I was a little frustrated. He gave us the Joseph Smith Story and his testimony in Mandrin. It was great to hear his voice. He is loving being a missionary and more excited now that he will actually be in Taiwan.

We had been told about flight tracker so we tried it out. We put in Travis' flight and followed the information and flight route. I watched, not Wade, until I went to bed and then in the morning pulled it up again and watched it until it said it had landed. Crazy I know but fun.

I was a little disappointed I did not get an email from President Bishop on Wednesday that he was there safe and sound. Thursday morning when I looked I had one. He was safe and sound in Taiwan, Taichung. The new missionaries will stay at the mission home for a couple of days of orientation and then be assigned were they will be proselyting.

This picture was attached to the email from his Mission President.
